Sony Ericsson W880i – Revel in music
A great piece of work, the Sony Ericsson W880i is the thinnest entrant in the genre of Walkman series. The handset comes packed with a stylish look and impressive features, to be a strong contender in the genre of music phones. The highlights of the phone being – its 3G support, enhanced music player, 2 megapixel camera, push email support, and a 1GB Memory Stick Micro (M2) - all of which is squeezed into a gadget that measures just 9.4mm thin.
Being a walkman phone, the Sony Ericsson's USP would not be its slim case, but its music prowess. And so far music goes, the handset does some real impressive work. The device is enables with latest version of Sony Ericsson's proprietary music software, Walkman version 2.0. The new version comes with a stylish look and some welcome features. The icons now are more streamlined and structured. Plus, the new download service PlayNow and Album Art is also provided. The Sony Ericsson W880i also features A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile) which enables you wirelessly stream your music to a pair of Bluetooth headphones. The sound quality is good, and earphone produces a crisp and warm sound with good bass.
Being a 3G phone, the device includes 2 cameras. One is the 2 MP camera, while other is a VGA camera for video calling. The camera quality though is not that good. Photos can be stored on either the 16MB of internal memory, or the included 1GB Memory Stick Micro (M2).
The Sony Ericsson W880i offers plenty of other entertainment. It offers games, polyphonic ring tones, animated wallpapers, etc.
For connectivity, it comes with Bluetooth, GPRS, USB, UMTS apart from 3G. The tri-band network offers seamless network switch over, while the wen browser opens the world of online communication.
It offers 6.5 hours of talk time, and provides 400 hours of standby.
The Sony EricssonW880i is indeed a good phone. Though the lack of FM radio and small controls makes the experience a little adulterated.
